Con el título «Jewel Box», el ambicioso recopilatorio será editado por UMC/EMI y aparecerá en el mercado el 13 de noviembre.
El músico, cantante y compositor británico Elton John acaba de anunciar el próximo estreno del recopilatorio Jewel Box, la más ambiciosa revisión de su catálogo con rarezas registradas entre 1965 y 1971, caras B poco conocidas y algunas nuevas mezclas que han sido producidas por él mismo.
La colección está precedida por la canción “Sing Me No Sad Songs”, un tema inédito grabado como demo en 1969, en los inicios de la fructífera colaboración del músico con su inseparable letrista Bernie Taupin.
Jewel Box aparecerá en el mercado el 13 de noviembre e incluirá un total de 148 canciones, principalmente de los años 60 y 70, repartidas en 8 fabulosos CDs. El formato de venta será un libro de tapa dura con los discos perfectamente clasificados en su parte posterior y envueltos en una elegante funda exterior. Además, cada una de las secciones estará acompañada por entrevistas, interesante archivo gráfico y notas con comentarios del propio Elton John que servirán de introducción a los nuevos cortes.
La minuciosa masterización de los temas ha sido realizada por el ingeniero ganador de un Grammy Sean Magee en los míticos Abbey Road Studios.
El nuevo material coincide en el tiempo con la celebración de sus 50 años de imparable trayectoria musical. El propio autor lo define de la siguiente manera:
“Profundizar en cada período de mi carrera con tanto detalle para «Jewel Box» ha sido un placer absoluto. Al escuchar de nuevo estas pistas perdidas hace mucho tiempo, me resulta difícil comprender lo prolíficos que éramos Bernie y yo durante los primeros días”.
